PANTON MOVE TABLE (1972)

SERIES 430 CHAIR (1967)

Verner Panton

Panton Move.

When designing the Move table, Panton wanted the quintessential features of a good table – a top

and four legs, one in each corner – but he also needed it to be flexible.

The idea for the design came in 1972, as Panton was trying to figure out how to best present his

work to visitors, within the limited space of his Basel studio. He figured out that the best way to go

about it was to be pragmatic. As there was no room in his office for an extra table, he decided to fit

his work desk with lockable castors – this way he could move it to the center of the room and have

visitors stand around it when he gave presentations. Problem solved.

By fitting the table with castors, Panton added mobility and made the table flexible and ready

for multi-purpose use. Move is a timeless design, and a perfect representation of Verner Panton’s

incredible sense of combining simple aesthetics with great everyday functionality.
