“THE HUT ... “- Reuse a production building
for residential purpose.
The building, built in the early ‘900’s as a
production facility for processing tobacco
leafs, is characterized by a compact volume
with large distinctive symmetrical openings.
The artifact is spread over two floors with a
rectangular floor plan and is characterized by
two large voids.
The intervention leaves intact the original
space by placing service facilities within
modules to divide the rooms, conceived
as elements of furniture, detached from
the ceiling and arranged in a spectacular
sequence without interrupting the visual
perception of the whole project.
The restoration was carried out following the
green building criteria, placing special care
in accurate detail, in the lighting aspects
and design of the functional elements.
The project is completed with the realization
of a technological pavilion, overlying a
basement used for service facilities, covered
with photovoltaic and solar panels integrated
into the roof, which relates to the main
building through open air living area.
